Recount Text

Hi guys welcome to my blog,Have you ever heard the term recount text? In exploring English, there are many types of text and one of them is recount text. Recount text is a type of text that tells about a story, action, or activity. Usually, recount text retells events or experiences that occurred in the past. Is the understanding of recount text only that? Of course not! Come on, let's discuss this type of English text more deeply.

Kinds of Recount Text

In recount text, there are still things in it that you can use as a writing reference. Usually someone will choose the type of recount text according to the purpose of writing. The kinds of recount text are:

Personal Recount: Is a recount text that serves to tell about the author's personal experience.

Factual Recount: Is a recount text that serves to present reports of events that actually occurred, such as reports on scientific experiments or police reports.

Imaginative:It is a recount text that serves to present an imaginative story and be expressed in events or incidents that have occurred.

Recount Text structure

In creating recount text, there is a structure that must be followed when writing this type of text. What are the structures?

Orientation

In this first stage, you are asked to provide an introduction in the form of information about who, where, when the event or incident occurred in the past. In this section, you are expected to provide the reader with the information necessary to understand the entirety of the text.

Example:

Yesterday I stayed the night at my friend's house, Delia, with my other three friends, Amanda, Tiara and Clarisse. Delia's house is so pretty. It has a big garden with a lot of kind of flowers and a big swimming pool. Right from the balcony, we can see the scenery of the whole of Bandung city.

Event

In this second stage, you can convey or tell the events or events that occurred.

Example:Depart from Muara Angke - Arrived - Went to the guest house - Rent bicycle and cycling - Had lunch - Snorkeling - and so on.

Reorientation

The last stage in the recount text structure is reorientation. It is the repetition stage of the introduction in the first stage. The existing loop summarizes all the events or incidents that were told. In the last stage, you can write a summary of all the events or events that were told. You can also write comments or personal impressions of events or incidents that have occurred.

Recount Text Features

How do you know if a narrative or sentence is recount text? You can identify it by the following features:

•Using past tense (past) sentences, such as went, departed, would, woke up, etc.

Example: I spent my summer in Yogyakarta and I was very happy.

•Using the verbs action

Example:spent, went, brought, took, etc.

•Use adverb and adverbial phrase to express time, place and way, such as last September, Pari Island, on the second day, etc.

Example:last month, in Malang, lately, etc.

•Use conjunctions and time connectives to sequence events or events, such as and, before, then, after that, etc.

Example:and, or, after that, etc.

Climbing A Volcano 

Two days ago I went to the Merapi Mountain. It was the first time I climbed the mountain. I did it with some of my friends.

We start climbing at 8 p.m. It was so dark and we only used flashlight to get the way.

I felt no worry because all of my friends were professional climber. I just followed their instruction.

We climbed slowly and enjoy the night there.

After 7 hours walking in the dark, we could reach the top of the mountain. It was at 3 a.m. early in the morning.

We were not alone. There were a lot of people who reached that top before us.

We waited the sun rises by cooking some food and making some hot drink to get back our energy. We sang some songs together, shared stories and got acquainted with people there.

After seeing the sun raised, we had to go back home. Getting down the mountain was not as hard as the climbing process because we only spent a few energy and time even we had to be more careful to do this process.

However, it was great experience i had ever done so far.

After all, that was my great experience I had ever have.
